It is a time of freedom and fear, of Gaia and of borders, of many paths and the widening of a universal toll road, emptying country and swelling cities, of the public bought into privacy and the privacy of the public sold into invisible data banks and knowing algorithms. It is the time of the warrior's peace and the miser's charity, when the planting of a seed is an act of conscientious objection.

These are the times when maps fade and direction is lost. Forwards is backwards now, so we glance sideways at the strange lands through which we are all passing, knowing for certain only that our destination has disappeared. We are unready to meet these times, but we proceed nonetheless, adapting as we wander, reshaping the Earth with every tread.

Behind us we have left the old times, the standard times, the high times. Welcome to the irregular times.

Anti-Bush Sneaker Badges
Saturday, May 01, 2004

Sadly but truly, supporters of George W. Bush like to look down on those of us who are anti-Bush. And we progressives can be dejected at times, looking down at our sneakers as we contemplate four more years of Bush in the White House.

How can we simultaneously irk Bush supporters and perk up the spirits of dispirited progressives? There must be a thousand ways, but one is to give 'em something to look at down there.

That's where "Dump Bush" sneaker badges come in. These little suckers are threaded through your shoelaces, bearing the simple but direct statement that it's time to dump Bush. We charge just $2.00 per pair (one for each shoe), which includes shipping, handling and all other fees (except for sales tax, which is only added if you're a resident of New York State).

Just click on an image of the Dump Bush sneaker badge to add it to your shopping cart. Your payment will be processed securely and safely via PayPal, and we'll ship a pair to you post-haste.
